St Michael’s House: Home Sharing – Short Break Families
GIVE a little of your TIME and make a BIG difference!
St Michael’s House is recruiting Home Sharing – Short Break Families for those living in the greater Dublin area or if you live less than 1 hour from Dublin.
Make a difference in the lives of children and adults with a learning disability and their families by giving them a much needed break.
Home sharing is where people like you in the community are recruited, assessed, trained and supported to provide short breaks in their home, for children or adults with a disability. The frequency of breaks depends on your availability, some host families provide day care breaks, and others provide a short weekend break every month, whilst others might provide breaks over holiday periods. An allowance is provided; the rates are in line with the level of care that suits your availability. There is 24/7 support for host families. During the assessment process you have the opportunity to discuss the level of care you can provide and the person best matched to your family.
We welcome everyone to apply, whether you are in a relationship or single, young or old, with or without children, from all walks of life and living in all kinds of housing.
You don’t need a qualification; you do need to be caring, energetic and enthusiastic!
You will be provided with all necessary training, ongoing support and an allowance.
Due to COVID 19 Home Sharing has limited the amount of visits necessary for the application process. We are remaining thorough but have got creative and now do 1-2 visits to your family home to start, the rest of our assessments can be done over the phone. We are pushing forward and still appealing for new families to come and help make a difference. Home Visits are all subject to COVID 19 government restrictions.
