Athy Community Family Resource Centre: Home Visiting Mentor (Part-Time), Preparing for Life Programme

(Part Time 0.4 FTE)

The Home Visiting Mentor role is part of the Preparing for Life programme coming to Athy Community FRC in 2021, for an initial 5 year duration. PFL works with families from pregnancy to when the child starts school to help children achieve their full potential. We work with families, health services, early years education settings and schools. Athy Community FRC is committed to implementing a Strengths-based approach, which focuses on a collaborative process between the individual and family supported by our service and the Athy CFRC staff member who is supporting them, allowing them to work together to achieve an outcome that emphasises the persons’ and family’s strengths and assets.

We currently wish to recruit a part-time Home Visiting Mentor to join the Athy Community FRC team, for the roll out of our Preparing For Life programme in Athy. Reporting to the FRC Manager, the Home Visiting Mentor will work to a clearly outlined programme manual to support families, to achieve improved school readiness, as well as improved physical, psychological and emotional health and well-being.

Preparing for Life is an evidenced based, prevention and early intervention project that originated in Darndale, North Dublin. Following on from the success of the Preparing For Life programme coming to county Kildare through Newbridge and Curragh FRC’s in 2015, Athy Community FRC is delighted to be in a position to expand our services and bring the Preparing For Life programme to Athy. It is expected that there will be continued close collaboration with the other FRCs in the county, as well as with Preparing For Life in North Dublin for the ongoing successful rollout of this programme.

This is a permanent contract, subject to funding. Please see attached for a detailed job description and person specification.
