Position Title: Youth Identification Worker
Programme: Crosscare Teen Counselling
Location: Finglas, Dublin 11
Contract: Full time 35 hours per week
Salary: Band D (€30,142 - €42,375)
Role Purpose: To identify, engage and work directly with young people (aged 12-24) who are either engaging in drug and alcohol use and/or affected by substance use in their families
Reports to: Project Manager, Teen Counselling.
The Role:
Key Responsibilities:
- To identify, engage and work directly with young people (aged 12-24) deemed ‘at risk’ of harm as a result of substance use/experimentation with substances
- To work in partnerships with other agencies, especially educational, justice, mental health, social care and community agencies
- To act as a link between young people and local substance misuse agencies and attend case review meetings where appropriate
- To act as a referrer to the Crosscare Drugs counsellor
- To deliver Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA) interventions to young people aged 12 – 24
- To facilitate a support programme for young people aged 12-24 who have been affected by parental/familial substance misuse
- To provide drug education for parents and teachers
- To submit data, keep programme records and provide updates and reports as requested
- To take part in ongoing approved training to enhance outcomes for the client group

- To work and promote the ethos and mission of Crosscare and uphold its values in all areas of work
- To observe the policies and procedures of the project and Crosscare
The Holder:
(Qualification/Skills Requirements) Education Requirements:
- Be in possession of a recognised 3rd Level qualification in Addiction / Social Care / Youth Work or a related field
Job skills/Experience:
- Experience of working in a youth service or residential care setting would be advantageous
- Strong track record in community based programmes and in supporting strategic partnerships with other agencies
- Knowledge of Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA) would be an advantage
- Experience of interagency work
- Experience of working with young people with substance use issues
Personal Skills:
- A commitment to social justice and to treating people with dignity and respect
- An understanding of the principles of teamwork and the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
- Flexibility, good time management and a professional manner.
- A full Driving License, access to own transport.
