Crinan Youth Project

Crinan Youth Project, is a drug treatment programme for 14-21 year olds with drug and/or alcohol problems. Working from a social change model and through the use of ACRA (adolescent community reinforcement approach) to empower young people to address their substance use and change their lifestyle. Crinan Youth Project is seeking to employ skilled, dynamic workers for the following posts:

SENIOR PROJECT WORKER – Full-time

OUTREACH WORKER POST – EVENING SERVICE – Part-time 17.5 hours

THERAPIST – TO WORK WITH YOUNG PEOPLE – Part-time 17.5 hours

The people we are seeking will be enthusiastic, highly motivated and will have the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a community based project.

The main tasks include:

Outreach Workers

  • Carrying out assessments with young people
  • Careplanning/keyworking
  • Referrals to other agencies/treatment programmes
  • Devising and delivering training and recreational programmes for groups of young people in treatment and in recovery from drug dependency.
  • Individual and group work – in-house and outreach
  • Out of hours/evening work and street outreach work
  • Creating a supportive environment
  • Maintaining records – computerised and report writing
  • Advocacy work

Essential

  • A Professionally endorsed qualification in Youth and Community work or Addiction Studies
    or
  • An equivalent professional qualification or relevant degree and experience of working with young people at risk/substance misuse.

Desirable:

  • 1-2 years full time experience of working with young people at risk. Knowledge of ACRA an advantage.

Salary: 6 point scale: €15,771 - €19,754

Therapist

  • Carrying out therapy/counselling assessments with young people
  • Providing addiction counselling and therapy to young people with substance misuse
  • Facilitate sessions with individuals, groups or families
  • Referrals to residential detox/treatment programmes
  • Out of hours/evening work
  • Creating a supportive environment
  • Maintaining records – computerised and report writing

Essential:

  • Minimum of BA in Counselling & Psychotherapy
  • Fully accredited member of relevant Counselling/Psychotherapy accrediting body
  • Minimum of 3 years post-accreditation professional counselling/psychotherapy work
  • Experience of working with young people under 18 years.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of substance misuse, working with adolescents, group facilitation skills

Salary: 12 point scale €18,538 - €27,344

Senior Project Worker

  • Assisting the Manager in day to day management of the service
  • Administrative duties
  • Supervision of the outreach/evening service
  • Out of hours/evening work

Essential

  • The ideal candidate will have a professionally endorsed qualification in Management/Leadership
  • A professionally endorsed qualification in Youth and Community work or Addiction Studies

Desirable:

  • 1-2 years full time experience of working with young people at risk, substance misuse, group facilitation, supervision skills. Knowledge of ACRA an advantage.

Salary: 7 point scale: €44,849 - €55,032
