Limerick Youth Service is a voluntary youth work organisation whose mission is

“Connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential.”

It offers a range of quality services responding to the needs of young people throughout Limerick City and County.

Limerick Youth Service CTC, funded through Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, is now looking to recruit individuals for the following roles:

Community Training Centre

Temporary Instructor – Limerick

31.25 hours per week (4 months - immediate start)

Limerick Youth Service Community Training Centre (LYS CTC) provides vocational training and education options to meet the needs of young people aged 16 to 21 from the local area who have left school early i.e. before Leaving Certificate and who are unemployed. The instructor will be responsible for delivering a range of modules within the LCA / QQI curriculum, in particular Maths and Vocational Preparation and Guidance

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised qualification in Maths, Vocational Preparation, or similar discipline
  • Experience of working with young people in non-formal settings
  • An ability to deliver flexible training options and to provide guidance to new and emerging learners
  • The capability to work across a diverse range of projects
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and ICT skills
  • At least 2 years proven experience of delivering one or more of the aforementioned modules.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering, assessing and monitoring of learner coursework to LCA / QQI level standards
  • Reporting to the Centre Manager on a day-to-day basis
  • Direct supervision of learners
  • Assisting with the planning, development and implementation of CTC services within the Training Standards System.

Community Training Centre

Pre-Apprenticeship Instructor – Limerick

35 hours per week

Limerick Youth Service Community Training Centre (LYS CTC) provides vocational training and education options to meet the needs of young people aged 16 to 21 from the local area who have left school early i.e. before Leaving Certificate and who are unemployed. The instructor will be responsible for the development, implementation and review of the pre-apprenticeship course, training young people to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue further training or employment in a trade or in the construction industry.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised/relevant 3rd Level qualification. An understanding of/experience of delivery of QQI Level 3 & 4 Awards
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with learners/young people in the area of pre-apprenticeship skills
  • A learner-centred approach
  • An ability to work effectively with CTC staff, learners, external partners, employers and others, as appropriate, to support learner progression
  • An ability to provide guidance and deliver flexible options to new and emerging learners
  • A proven record of linking with Enterprise and Further Education and Training providers.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and ICT skills
  • A knowledge of the key state agencies who work with early school leavers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering, assessing and monitoring of learner coursework to LCA / QQI level standards
  • Reporting to the Centre Manager on a day-to-day basis
  • Direct supervision of learners
  • Assisting with the planning, development and implementation of CTC services within the Training Standards System.
