The Cottage Home is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation that has been providing residential care and support to young people in times of vulnerability and crisis for over 140 years. Our mission is to achieve this by using a pro-active, creative and inclusive approach, always in partnership and with respect, towards a positive future.
The Board and Trustees of The Cottage Home are now seeking to appoint a suitably qualified applicant to this senior position due to the planned retirement of the current incumbent.
The Director of Services, in partnership with the Board, is responsible for the organisation’s success. Together, the Board and Director of Services assure the Services’ relevance to the community, the accomplishment of its mission and vision, and the accountability of the Services to its’ diverse constituents.
The Board delegates responsibility for management and day-to-day operations to the Director of Services. They have the authority to carry out these responsibilities, and to ensure compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures. The Director of Services provides direction and enablement to the Board as it carries out its governance functions.
The Director of Services is responsible for management of all staff, directly and indirectly, and is responsible for the general direction and management of the provision and delivery of quality services to the children, young people and families entrusted to the Services. The Director of Services holds complete responsibility for Child Protection.
The Director of Services is required to have political acumen, sound judgement and a strategic mind-set as well as a highly motivated, positive disposition. They must be innovative in all aspects of the role, have the highest levels of integrity, and a flexible attitude in response to organisational change and development.
Applicants must have relevant degree qualifications, working knowledge of the childcare field with emphasis on residential care, and a minimum of 5 years experience of care service management.
