This position is funded by Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Inclusion and Youth,  (DCEDIY)

Mirroring the overarching goals of UBU – Your Place Your Space, our youth projects “provide young person-centred, community-based and out-of-school youth services to young people in need of support” and “ensure that each layer of the governance structure adds value to the direct work with young people”.

The suitable candidate for this post will coordinate the UBU Project in Tullamore Youth Project and tasked to deliver on the workplan agreed with Laois Offaly ETB and funded by the DCEDIY under the UBU Funding Scheme. 

You will be required to engage in direct work with young people utilising a detached youth work model as well as center based and outreach methodologies.  Facilitate the active engagement and participation of young people in the ongoing planning, implementation and evaluation of the UBU Project.

Supported by a team of staff and volunteers, there will be cooperation and collaboration with a wide range of statutory agencies and others to strengthen local systems for the delivery of services and supports to young people.

3 years experience in a youth work setting minimum, plus a relevant 3rd level qualification and own transport.


 1 Youth Diversion Practitioner – Family Support - Tullamore

The position is co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Irish Government through the Department of Justice in conjunction with An Garda Síochána. 

Garda Youth Diversion Projects are Community based, multi-agency youth crime prevention initiatives which primarily seek to divert young people who have been involved in anti-social and/or criminal behaviour by providing suitable activities to facilitate personal development, promote civic responsibility and improve long term employability prospects.

Reporting to the Project Co-ordinator, the successful candidate will have experience in a position working with families, targeting young people at risk, and will work in The FUSION Project, Tullamore.

Experience in non formal and formal education methodologies as well as training in cross sector intervention tools for behaviour, conflict management and community work are beneficial.   Previous experience in the area of Family Support, working with young people at risk of crime, in a youth or community work setting is preferable.


The successful candidates for both projects will demonstrate ability to collaborate with local community and agency groups with at least 3 years work experience in a Youth Work related setting.  These persons will also have a 3rd level qualification in Youth Work or a similar discipline, a proven track record in group work & facilitation and developing, delivering, and evaluating programmes using logic model as a planning tool.  Experience of interagency working and a full driving licence and use of own car is required.   Candidates must possess strong IT Literacy and be open to ongoing CPD as part of the role.
