Croí na Gaillimhe is a Resource Centre of St Vincent de Paul based at 1 Mill St., Galway and it provides a range of social and learning supports for people attending the centre. The Homework Club Assistant will work with the Coordinator of the Homework Club who will work closely with the Manager of Croí na Gaillimhe and Steering Group to coordinate and develop a community based homework club suitable for primary and secondary school children based in the Eglinton Direct Provision Hostel in Salthill.

The ideal candidates will possess the following:

• The Job Holder should be educated to FETAC Level 6/5 Childcare.
• Skills or experience in teaching.
• Knowledge of afterschool settings.
• A good knowledge of Maths and Irish an advantage
• Experience in working in a community development setting.
• Experience of working with family’s and groups and delivering projects.
• Understanding and valuing of diversity
• Good communication skills and competency in English
• A first aid certificate.
• Children’s First Aid Training
• Excellent interpersonal skills together with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• High level administrative and organisation skills and attention to detail.
