Age Action Ireland is the leading advocacy organisation on ageing and older people in Ireland. Our vision is that Ireland becomes the best country in which to grow older. Our main object to achieve fundamental change in the lives of all ageing people and especially people in later life by empowering them to live full lives as independent and actively engaged citizens and to secure their right to comprehensive high quality services according to their changing needs.

Advocacy & Communications

Age Action is a campaigning organisation, working with older people to secure their human rights, improve policies and promote equality. We engage with the Government, policy-makers, statutory agencies, other advocacy groups and the media to ensure the needs of older people are put on the agenda. We empower our members to fight for a fair State Pension, better homecare, an end to ageism to promote positive ageing. At the heart of all that we do is the lived experience of our members and of all of us who hope to grow old in Ireland. Communications involves working with the media, creating digital and print communications content including our bimonthly magazine Ageing Matters, running an information service and a reference library. The team is also responsible for advising and supporting other teams on issues related to policy, research and evaluation in their own work.
