Family and Community Worker
Part Time (22 hrs) and Specific Purpose contract to cover maternity leave until August 2018.
Finglas, Dublin 11 but also working in the Mulhuddart area.
Salary: 15,161 - €23,908
What does the Finglas Family Support project do?
- Undertake one to one therapeutic work with children and their families.
- Undertake initial family assessments on behalf of the Child and Family Agency.
- Individual work with children through the medium of some activity to address behavioural and emotional difficulties.
- Group work with the purpose of developing social skills, reducing isolation and creating fun.
- Parent support one to one discussion, home visits, Parent and Toddler group and practical help in setting family routines, housing maintenance and budgeting.
- Parenting interventions specifically aimed at improving parenting skills, accessing learning, self development and careers opportunities.
- Act as an advocate for individuals and the community.
What will the Family and Community Worker do?
This is an exciting new position that will be working across the Finglas West and Mulhuddart areas offering a range of group work and community programmes in both Finglas and Mulhuddart areas. The specific programmes will be developed based on the universal needs within the two communities with a strong focus on community integration and responding to identified community needs.
The programmes may include, play & stay groups (baby & older ages; Toy Library; community garden – grow your own initiative; afterschool groups and Universal parenting programmes (with a key focus on separated parents).
Experience required
- A minimum of two year’s post qualification experience of working with children (young children if relevant) and families required.
- Experience of working with children who face disadvantage is desirable.
Qualifications required
- Recognised third level qualification [1] (min FETAC Level 6 on the NFQ) in social care, psychology, social work or similar discipline
- Clean drivers licence and access to the use of a car required.
