Could you be a HD Hero? [1]

Volunteer Befrienders sought to provide occasional or regular one to one company for individuals with Huntingtons Disease in Northern Ireland.

HD is a rare, inherited, terminal brain disease which causes gradual loss of control over thoughts, feelings, behaviour, movement, communication and swallow.
Befrienders are sought for adults who are early to mid symptomatic and would benefit from company and opportunities to go out in order to maintain independence and reduce isolation.
We currently have a single woman in her 50's living in Newry who is fully mobile and able to care for herself but would appreciate someone to keep her company- she loves going to the country dances, shopping and out for lunch.

No previous experience necessary however applicants should be reliable, patient, caring and maintain confidentiality.

Travel and expenses will be reimbursed.
