Aonad Resource Centre opened its doors in February 2003. It has since become progressively busier as the rural community of North East Galway explore the supports and services that we can provide.
"Aonad" is the Irish translation of "Unity", which is indicative of the centre being a resource for all people. Our overall objective is the empowerment of local people by providing supports and services which meet their needs in an accessible, respectful, family-friendly and confidential manner. Essentially, we aim to improve the quality of life of those living in the wider Ballygar area.
We provide Adult Education and Training in various areas including Yoga (Programmes for Beginners, Advanced and Older People), English for Migrant Workers, Computer Skills (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced) and more.
The staff at Aonad Resource Centre have facilitated the establishment of new community and voluntary groups such as the Parent and Toddler Group, who meet twice a week and The Ballygar Active Retirement Association who now have over 20 members.
We are also actively linked with our local Adult Training Centre, Schools Cluster Programme, Ballygar MABS Outreach Service, Youth Services Centre, Community Playgroup and Social Services Group.
Our comprehensive and up-to-date Information Centre is open to the public Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. We stock Information pertaining to: Social Welfare, Childcare Issues, Immigrants Issues, Health Information, etc.
