Position Title: Development Officer for PWSAI (Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of Ireland)

Purpose of the Post:

This is a new role which offers the successful candidate an opportunity to learn and develop within the position. This service development position needs to establish a sustainable foundation from which future PWS education, awareness and training programs and services provision can develop.

In addition, this role will provide advocacy for and delivery of key PWSAI priorities.

Priorities:

  • Development of appropriate Respite and Residential provision for persons with PWS.
  • Access to appropriate Mental Health Services for persons with PWS. Identify, engage and develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish a network of appropriate expertise to deal with PWS complexities.
  • Organise and deliver a variety of training and awareness programmes including workshops, training days, conferences for relevant stakeholders including but not confined to HSE disability managers, clinicians, social care providers, educators, intellectual disability organisations.
  • Facilitate the provision of support to people with PWS and their families, through collaboration with HSE, Medical Professionals and Care Providers.

Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Establish relationships and identify best in class services both nationally and internationally and bring the learning back to inform the development of services and supports for people with PWS in Ireland to include: Respite Services, Residential Provision for Adults, Mental Health Services.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of an annual advocacy plan for PWSAI.
  • Work with relevant PWSAI Committees.
  • Work with the HSE / PWSAI National Steering Group.
  • Willingness to engage in an extensive induction program

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant 3rdlevel qualification in Social Care/Disabilities/Mental Health or other relevant discipline.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role or experience working with people with disabilities.
    • Project Management qualification/experience is desirable.
    • Knowledge/understanding of PWS would be an advantage.
    • Full Clean Driving License and Car.
    • Travel is a fundamental part of the role.
    • Research experience desirable

Salary and Remuneration:

The successful candidate will be employed by Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of Ireland, (PWSAI).

  • -This is a 24-month fixed term contract, which will include a 6-month probationary period.
  • -This is a full-time position (39-hours per week) which requires flexibility with some weekend and evening work required.
  • -The salary scale for the post is: €48,495 - €63,041
  • -Salary will be commensurate with experience.
  • -Pre-approved vouched out of pocket expenses associated with the role will be remunerated.
