Red Pen are a growing digital learning company looking to expand the team with an experienced and proficient Web Developer or DevOps Engineer depending on the skills set and experience of the candidate. Working mostly on front-end development, the candidate will be focused on developing innovative and responsive web content but also have the tools and experience to manage back-end infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test dynamic web applications and user interfaces
  • Manage, adapt, maintain and deploy existing and new Learning Management and Content Management Systems
  • Use Web service and library-based APIs to integrate systems and applications
  • Deliver high quality user experiences from both a functional and design perspective
  • Ensure consistent user experience across multiple devices and platforms
  • Work with digital media developers to ensure integration of all project requirements including programming, interface and design elements
  • Develop scalable web applications that use relational databases to hand large amount of data
  • Manage online infrastructure, hosting and support
  • Provide technical advice, recommendations and make a key contribution to product development
  • Provide clean code, document projects, test plans, version control, bug fixes and resolve ongoing issues
  • Keep up to date with latest trends and technologies in web development and digital interaction

Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science or related discipline plus at least 2 years post-graduation experience
  • Proven experience in developing responsive applications
  • Thorough understanding of web architecture
  • Experience with web development technologies, languages and frameworks, including:
    • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, XML, Ajax,
    • PHP, SQL, ASP.Net MVC
    • Bootstrap and other frontend frameworks
    • JavaScript libraries and frameworks e.g. AngularJS, jQuery, BackboneJS
    • Web service exchanges (e.g. JSON, REST, SOAP) and using APIs
  • Experience of using Visual Studio Code or other Web IDE
  • Experience in Linux, WHM / cPanel, Apache administration

Desirable

  • Experience in using AWS services
  • Full stack web development
  • Knowledge and experience of digital media creation, optimisation and delivery
  • Creating automated QA and load testing processes
  • Experience of developing for CMS or LMS sites and/or using e-learning tools such as Captivate / Articulate
  • Strong visual design skills
