Project Animator / PR Officer

Title: Project Animator / PR Officer
Status: Fixed term contract to the 31st of December 2020
Location: Louth LEADER offices in Ardee
Reporting to: Rural Development Programme Manager
Salary: €34,527 (point 2 Louth LEADER Project Worker Salary Scale)
Hours : This is a 35 hour week post Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm
Note: This is a full time post and not subject to job share

Job purpose: To support and provide animation and PR services to Louth LEADER Partnership. The successful applicant should display evidence of capacity in a wide range of the following key responsibilities:


  • Identify potential LEADER funded projects across all Co. Louth
  • Work with LEADER Project Team and all aspects of funding applications
  • Work closely with the RDP Manager to support the animation process in Co. Louth
  • Meet with groups and individuals to promote and explain the LEADER application process
  • Attend community meetings with groups outside of normal working hours
  • Work with staff in developing training projects across the County
  • Support any Co-Operation projects that Louth LEADER Partnership are engaged in
  • Provide administration and animation support to Co-Operation Projects
  • Promote the work of Louth LEADER Partnership on all relevant Social Media sites.
  • Compile Press Releases on a weekly basis for the promotion of the LEADER Programme
  • Arrange photo opportunities for Louth LEADER Partnership staff and Board members to promote the LEADER programme
  • Liaise with other agencies to identify potential funding opportunities that can be developed
  • Ensure the Louth LEADER Partnership website is kept up to date with all relevant news items
  • Provide receptionist cover and duties as and when required in the Ardee Office

  • Act as a change agent and model for embracing change at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality and a high level of professionalism.
  • Compliance with all company health and safety standards and procedures.
  • To carry out other duties as they relate to the post as required under the directions and support of your line manager

The Person: This Person will likely have extensive experience working in a busy and dynamic office environment with an enthusiasm for and belief in the mission and values of the community and voluntary sector.

Essential Skills and Attributes


  • Candidates should have a very good standard of education and preferable but not essential, a degree qualification in rural/community development. A candidate may be appointed who does not hold a degree qualification but who possesses a very considerable amount of job-related experience.


  • Candidates must have at least 3 years experience in a similar environment.
  • Candidates must possess extensive knowledge working in a busy office environment
  • Candidates must have considerable project development experience in a rural context
  • Have experience working with Community Groups
  • Have excellent report writing skills


  • Knowledge of the Louth LEADER Partnership and its funded programmes
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills and a strong customer focus
  • Flexibility, adaptability and openness to working effectively in a changing Environment
  • Can work independently on his or her own initiative and as a member of a team
  • Efficient use and maintenance of filing and document management systems
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (email),
  • An ability to generate and present documents in a professional manner
  • Ability to manage competing demands and work to strict schedules an deadlines
  • Candidates must be capable of working closely with the Rural Development Project Team, RDP Sub-Group and the Louth Local Action Group.

  • This post is offered on a weekly 35 hour basis, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Monday to Friday
  • Continuance is subject to funding from our funders.
  • Location of the post holder will be in LLP’s offices in Ardee (home base). We reserve the right to relocate to any of our offices with due notice.
  • Access to a car and full driving licence is required.
