Limerick Social Service Council CLG aims to promote the dignity and growth of individuals, families and groups in the Limerick city and county area. The work of the Centre is carried out by a dedicated team of over 90 staff and dedicated teams of volunteers, through a range of individual services ranging from support for pre-school children to elderly people.

Applications are invited for the following role:

Community Mother

(Part time – 20 hours per week)

The Community Mothers Programme is a home visiting service for families with new babies and young children. The programme aims to encourage parents to enjoy participating more fully in their child’s life. Community Mothers visit parents in their home during the early years of their child’s life to offer non directive information on parenting, child development and local services and supports. Community Mothers support positive parent/child relationships. Community Mothers also facilitate Baby/Toddler/Parent Groups, weaning workshops, baby massage and baby reflexology programmes in addition to Incredible Years Programmes, Circle of Security Programmes and the Mellow Bumps Ante-Natal Programme.

The Community Mothers work closely with the ABC Start Right Programme, an early intervention initiative, focusing on the ante-natal to six years of age group in the north side and city centre of Limerick City, and part of the role will involve supporting ABC Start Right initiatives.

The successful candidate shall report directly to the Community Mothers Co-Ordinator at Limerick Social Service Council CLG

Applicants for this post must have:-

  • Relevant experience working with children and families.
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with parents/families.
  • Ability to engage with a range of statutory and voluntary bodies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and networking skills.
  • Full clean Driving License is essential.

The successful candidate will be required to be flexible with regards to working hours.
