Deputy House Leader

L’Arche Cork invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Deputy House Leader.

L’Arche is an international organisation based in many countries around the world building community with adults who have an intellectual disability. Our aim is to recognise the value of each person and enable them to grow and develop as individuals.

L’Arche Cork is recruiting for the position of Deputy House Leader in one of our houses. This role involves assisting to lead a team of assistants in order to provide a warm and friendly home environment for the residents. The candidate who is successful in filling the position will be a good communicator with a warm and friendly disposition. Good organisational and written skills are also essential aspects of the role.

The position of Deputy House Leader will be full-time and will include some evenings and weekends. The salary will be commensurate with HSE pay scales.

Requirements for the role include the following:

  • Candidates must have a relevant professional qualification in Social Care.
  • Knowledge and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience of working with people with an intellectual disability and managing people’s well-being using an evidence based approach to person centred planning
  • A good understanding of HIQA requirements and an in-depth knowledge of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities and The Health Act 2007 (Care and Support of Residents in Designated Centres for Persons (Children and Adults with Disabilities) Regulations 2013 is essential
  • The person filling this role will demonstrate a clear commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities
  • A full clean driving license is essential.

Residential Services Manager

Care Assistant

We are recruiting for the position of care assistant part-time to provide support to adults with intellectual disabilities who live in a residential setting in L’Arche Cork.

The successful candidates must be committed to providing the highest standard of services in support of adults to live satisfying, fulfilling and interesting lives. In order to meet the needs of the residents the role will require a high level of flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, sleepovers and weekend work.

The following are the desirable characteristics/experiences for the person filling this position. That they:

  • Have experience in working with adults with an intellectual disability
  • Have a social care qualification
  • Be Person Centred in approach and attitude.
  • High standard of English—both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, organisational and initiative skills.
  • Understanding of Advocacy and Human Rights.
  • Knowledge of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities.
  • A good understanding of HIQA requirements and of the National Standards for Residential Services for Adults with Disabilities is essential
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of social model practice in support of adults;
  • Role subject to Garda vetting, verification of qualifications and satisfactory references.
  • A full clean driving license is preferable for this position.
