Dublin City Community Co-operative has recently been awarded two year funding from the Department of Justice & Equality’s Equality Division for a Roma Community Employment Programme. The funding will be used for the provision of activities which will generate employment for members of the Roma community. The programme aims to develop and deliver employment initiatives (including social enterprise) for the Roma community. The overarching aim of the programme is to make progress on a range of employment issues that emerged in the consultative process for both the National Traveller & Roma Inclusion Strategy and the Roma in Ireland-A National Needs Assessment. This role requires an individual who has the skills, desire and passion for working with marginalised and disadvantaged people in a way that is holistic, empathetic and that develops the participants own resources in order to make positive changes in their lives.
Location: Dublin City Community Co-operative (‘the Co-op’), Unit 1 Killarney Court, Buckingham Street, Dublin 1 (note: the Programme Officer will cover the whole of the inner city area, both north and south of the River Liffey and as such will be expected to spend considerable periods of time working with Roma communities in an outreach capacity)
Reporting to: The Chief Executive Officer
General Key Responsibilities: To manage, administer, support and facilitate the implementation of Dublin City Community Co-operative’s Roma Employment Programme.
Other Key Relationships: Co-op head office programme and finance staff, relevant staff in the Co-op’s 13 member organisations, statutory agencies and peer organisations working with Roma communities in Dublin’s inner city areas and nationally.
This is a 5-day week (35 hours) Monday to Friday role. Flexibility regarding working hours/times will be required from time to time.
Salary range €34,528 - €43,254 depending on experience. A probation period of 6 months will apply.
