We are seeking an Art and Interior Design Instructor, to work in line with our vision and mission and to provide rights-based, inclusive, quality services for adults, families and children in Dublin’s North Inner City.

St. Vincent’s Community Training Centre, of the Daughters of Charity Community Services, provides vocational and life skills training to early school leavers under the CDETB Youth Reach Programme. The courses are designed to enhance the learner’s potential to learn new skills and achieve relevant certification necessary for progression into employment, further training or continued education. This role responds to learner needs through the provision of a variety of flexible training options which ultimately supports their move into the workplace or another learning environment.

The instructor’s role:

Contract: Full time hours (35) over 5 days, Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm, Friday 8.30am – 1.30pm

Salary Scale: The remuneration associated with the post is €31,652, which is point 1 on the CDETB instructor scale.

The ideal candidate will have:

Required:

  • A recognized art qualification at degree level and significant experience of working with young people.
  • Experience in successfully delivering QQI level 3 and 4 in similar service.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative in the delivery of the curriculum, whilst recognising and catering for the diverse needs of the learners.
  • Excellent administration skills.
  • An awareness of QQI and the National Framework of Qualifications for CTCs.

Desirable:

  • The ability and experience to teach art and interior design at QQI (formerly FETAC) level 3 and 4.
  • Experience integrating I.T. based learning, literacy development and other pedagogical skills and approaches
  • Excellent administration skills.
  • A learner-centred approach to the work.
  • The ability to work effectively with CTC staff, learners, external partners, employers and others as appropriate to support learner progression.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills..
  • A working knowledge of the key state agencies who work with early school leavers.
