Cumann na bhFiann is an Irish language Youth organisation that organise services for young people through Irish. These services include summer courses, youth clubs, weekends away, school tours, leadership training and more, all through the medium of Irish. The organisation seeks to employee two Youth Officers – Muster / Midlands and Ulster.


Youth Officer – Munster / Midlands

Job Title: Oifigeach Óige / Youth Officer (Munster / Midlands)
Location: This employee will be based in the region (Munster / Midlands) along with the offices in Droim Rí, Co. Meath.
Pay scale: Executive officer (Civil service scale) This position is funded by Foras na Gaeilge
Salary scale: €29,316 - €49,960 (In accordance with qualifications and experience)


Youth Officer – Ulster

Job Title: Oifigeach Óige / Youth Officer (Ulster)
Location: This employee will be based in the region (Ulster) along with the offices in Droim Rí, Co. Meath.
Pay scale: Executive officer (Civil service scale) This position is funded by Foras na Gaeilge
Salary scale: £27,299 - £28,167 (In accordance with qualifications and experience)


Contract: 3 years
Working hours: 39 hours a week

Qualifications & Skills required:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Irish (Essential)
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Technology skills including social media experience
  • High level of organisation and administrative skills
  • Experience and understanding of the Irish Education system and of Youth Work in Ireland
  • Full and clean driving license

Main duties of the role:

  • The Youth Officer will be responsible, as part of a cross functional team, for:
  • Establishing and running local Youth Clubs;
  • Acting as advisor to other Youth Club Carers in the area;
  • Providing support and training to local groups undertaking youth events in the area;
  • Collaborating with other Irish language / youth organisations;
  • liaising with the Gaelscoileanna and other schools in the area, including management, parents and pupils;
  • Providing information to the public about the work of the organisation;
  • Preparing and distributing promotional material on the work of the organisation;
  • Organising regional events / information seminars;
  • Any other work determined by management.
