Askea Community Childcare Service: Childcare Manager & Assistant Childcare Manager

Askea Community Childcare Service wishes to recruit the following positions:

Childcare Manager (39 hours)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for the right candidate at Askea Community Childcare Service. The Childcare Manager will have overall operational responsibility for the delivery of a high quality childcare service through the implementation of high standards of care, education and safety to ensure that the well-being of children, staff and families are being met. The role of the Childcare Manager will be to provide pedagogical leadership and mentoring support to staff in order to ensure the delivery of excellent services for children and families.

The Childcare Manager will work alongside the Business Manager and will report to the Board of Management.

Candidates MUST have:

  • A minimum Level 8 qualification in Early Years Care and Education. Level 9 desirable.
  • A minimum 3 years work experience in a similar role
  • Exceptional leadership skills and ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Extensive understanding & application of Aistear & Síolta
  • The ability to develop, implement, monitor & review a curriculum in response to children’s interests & age group (0-15 years)
  • Good communication and relating skills with children, staff and families
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Positive and energetic attitude.
  • Kindness, warmth and responsiveness to the needs of children

An excellent package is available for the right candidate. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience (circa €19p/hr).


Assistant Childcare Manager (39 hours)

The daily role of the Assistant Childcare Manager will involve working directly with children in a designated room for part of the day along with assisting the Childcare manager in mentoring and supporting staff.

The Assistant Childcare Manager, in the absence of the Childcare Manager, will have overall operational responsibility for the delivery of a high quality childcare service through the implementation of high standards of care, education and safety to ensure that the well-being of children, staff and families are being met.

The Assistant Childcare Manager will report to the Childcare Manager.

Candidates MUST have:

  • A minimum Level 7 qualification in Early Years Care and Education.
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience working in an early year’s setting
  • Extensive understanding & application of Aistear & Síolta
  • The ability to develop and implement a curriculum in response to children’s interests
  • Effective leadership skills and ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Positive and energetic attitude.
  • Kindness, warmth and responsiveness to the needs of children
  • Good Communication and relating skills with children, staff and parents
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations

An excellent package is available for the right candidate. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience (circa €15.50p/hr).
