NAAS CHILD & FAMILY PROJECT
(Part-time 4 days per week)
Kildare Youth Services (KYS) supports young people, children and families in Co. Kildare & West Wicklow to enable them to live a full and active life within their communities and society.
The Naas Child and Family Project is part of Kildare Youth Services (KYS) and is managed in partnership with the Child and Family Agency (TUSLA). The project (NCFP) recognises that vulnerable, at-risk children and families should be supported within their own community. The project provides intensive, therapeutic supports to local families, has a multi-disciplinary focus and works collaboratively with other agencies to achieve better outcomes for parents, children and families.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with responsibility for supporting children and families on the waiting list. The role includes completing comprehensive needs assessments with families and making recommendations to inform interventions and supports for families. Developing relationships with families and supporting families through their challenges while on a waiting list is a key function. Providing brief interventions with a focus on family and parenting capacity, as well as individual work with children, young people and parents are also functions of the role.
To be shortlisted for interview a candidate must demonstrate that they have:
- A recognised third level qualification in one of the following:
- Social care
- Social Work
- Or other related discipline
- A minimum of three years post qualification experience of working with parents, children and families in a paid capacity.
- Knowledge of family systems and experience of family assessment work
- Experience of planning and implementing interventions/supports in partnership with parents and children
- Significant experience of brief intervention work
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
The successful candidate will be employed by Kildare Youth Services (KYS) for an initial 12 month fixed-term contract, including a 6 month probationary period. Closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 1st March 2019. Interviews are provisionally scheduled for Wednesday 13th March 2019.
