Family Support Worker (Homemaker service)
Full Time (37 hours) and 6 Month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: €25,787 - €34,515
What does the Homemaker service do?
Limerick City Homemaker Family Support Service is a home based family support service that emphasises working with parents in a practical way to support them in their parenting capacity and household routines.
It is an early intervention; outcomes focused Programme that works with families with additional needs (Levels 2-3 on the Hardiker Model).
The Homemaker Family Support Service provides practical, home-based support (such as helping the family to get ready for school, prepare meals, manage the household, etc.) to families that are struggling to cope with the demands of daily life for a range of reasons.
It is a flexible service that works with families at key periods during the day such as mornings/getting ready for school and evenings (family meals, homework, and bedtime), or at other times identified in partnership with the family.
- Experience of working with children and families for a minimum of 2 years is essential.
(work experience means paid employment, not training courses/student placements)
Relevant voluntary work may be considered.
- FETAC Level 5 in working with children is essential.
- Good computer skills are essential.
- Training in specific parenting and group work approaches, along with knowledge of child development is an advantage.
- Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car is essential.
Please Note: The ability to work early mornings and evenings is required in this post.
