Project Officer – Programme Development (age 0 to 6)

Children in Hospital Ireland is seeking a Project Officer to develop a new project in play facilitation for 0-6 age group. (four days per week)

Children in Hospital Ireland (CHI) is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The organisation has its Head Office in Sandyford, Dublin 18 and operates throughout the country. CHI delivers a national volunteer-run hospital play and recreation service; advocates to promote the highest standards in the delivery of healthcare for children; provides information and help for parents of hospitalised children; and works collaboratively with support groups for children who are ill or have long-term medical conditions.  CHI has currently over 400 volunteers working in 13 hospitals nationwide.

Every child deserves the opportunity to play – wherever they are.  There are challenges to playing within a hospital setting (limited space, infection control parameters, mobility of sick children). CHI aims to address this challenge with the development and roll-out of a new initiative -  PlayFull -  which will enable and equip our play volunteers with the skills and specialist play activities to deliver a robust level of play for the early childhood years within the constraints of the hospital setting.  This project has been funded by the Early Childhood Ireland, Pyjama Day Fund. 

Children in Hospital (CHI) is seeking a highly motivated, self starter to co-ordinate this project and deliver the stated outcomes including a resource manual and training workshops on play facilitation for the 0-6 age group.
