Parents Plus Charity is committed to developing evidence-based educational and therapeutic programmes for parents and children and to provide training and support to professionals working with children and families in the community.
The Parents Plus Programmes are practical evidence- based parenting courses designed to support and empower parents to manage and solve discipline problems, to create satisfying and enjoyable family relationships and to help children and young people grow up and reach their full potential. The original Parents Plus Programme was created in 1998 and now has developed into three separate programmes covering the different age groups:
THE EARLY YEARS PROGRAMME
For parents of children aged 1 to 6, developed by John Sharry, Grainne Hampson and Mary Fanning
THE CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME
For parents of children aged 6 to 11 developed by John Sharry, and Carol Fitzpatrick
THE ADOLESCENT’S PROGRAMME
For parents of adolescents and young people aged 11 to 16 developed by John Sharry, and Carol Fitzpatrick
WORKING THINGS OUT
A strutured therapeutic and educational programme for adolescents dealing with depression and other mental health problems developed by Eileen Brosnan, Carol Fitzpatrick and John Sharry.
The Parents Plus and Working Things Out Programmes have been developed in partnership with Irish parents, children and adolescents, and specifically include their experience in the video clips and throughout the materials.
