The EPIC Programme

EPIC (Employment for People from Immigrant Communities) is a FREE programme open to all adults with an EU passport, Stamp 4, Stamp 1G or asylum seekers with work permits based in Dublin and the Greater Dublin Area. The aim of EPIC is to support the target group to find employment and/or access further training and education in Ireland, as well as helping them to integrate into Irish society. EPIC is part funded by the Department of Justice and Equality and by the European Social Fund (ESF) as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020 and managed by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI).

The EPIC programme consists of a six week training course that covers topics such as CV and cover letter writing, professional English vocabulary for the workplace, basic LinkedIn skills training, telephone skills for job interviews and in the workplace, interview preparation and information about body language and communication styles. Businesses deliver workshops on topics such as CV writing, job application process, business etiquette, interview preparation or networking and provide support on IT skills training and mock interviews. Organisations provide information sessions on a variety of themes to facilitate understanding of the Irish system and to promote social integration. Topics covered include access to health, employment rights and entitlements, social welfare, and access to education. The participants receive individual support from Career Counsellors (CC) who prepare them in finding employment or further education and training. EPIC’s multi-cultural team of CCs use a client-centered approach to help each participant find the job that is right for them. All clients are assigned a CC during the first week of training, who will work with them providing career guidance including the use of psychometric testing tools to establish or clarify career choices, develop a career plan and to begin the job search process.

Applicants should have an intermediate to high level of both written and spoken English in order to take part in the course. The English language level will be assessed prior to joining the programme.
