Global Action Plan - Cork

Global Action Plan (GAP) is a world wide network of organisations aiming to promote and support sustainable development by the design and delivery of programmes that cultivate personal empowerment. It is the very high emphasis placed on empowerment that defines GAP, sets it apart from most approaches and is responsible for its success.  Personal empowerment is seen as fundamental to promoting behavioural change and behavioural change is in turn seen as fundamental to promoting a change of core values such as beliefs, attitudes and perspectives. When a person fully integrates a change in these core values, behavioural changes in favour of sustainability become permanent. The 'feel good factor' of empowerment makes the person more receptive to new information and the process of change is accelerated.

During the past 4 years the highly successful GAP EcoSaver programme for householders has been delivered 59 times to over 600 participants. A variation exists tailored to the office environment.

We also run community development programmes with an environmental / sustainability focus.
