Parent Mentors Needed For Oberstown Project (Dublin).
Your Time, Your Support, Your Kindness has the ability to change lives!
Le Chéile Mentoring provides a one-to-one mentoring service for the parents of young people detained at Oberstown Children Detention Campus, as part of a joint initiative between Le Chéile and Oberstown.
Who we’re looking for?
We’re looking for volunteers over the age of 25 from across the greater Dublin area with a passion to make a difference in their community and a commitment to building a strong mentoring relationship with each parent. The parents we work with are looking for a supportive peer relationship and the overall goal is to help them improve their confidence and motivation to develop their parenting skills.
Once you’re fully trained, you’ll be matched with a parent and mentoring sessions will take place once a week for between one and three hours per week. Our volunteering is also flexible, meaning you can meet during the day, evenings or weekends. These sessions aim to provide support and encouragement through doing activities together or just meeting for a bite to eat and a chat. Le Chéile covers all costs; all you give is your time.
What will you get out of it?
- Full training programme is provided
- Support of a trained Co-Ordinator
- Regular group sessions with other Mentors
- Optional ongoing training to learn new skills
- Meet new people and make new friends
- Experience that will support your personal and professional development
Our recruitment process includes an application form, interview, reference checks and Garda vetting.
