Concern Worldwide is an international organisation dedicated to reducing suffering and working towards elimination of extreme poverty and have been running their Concern Debates programme for over 35 years aimed at getting post primary students debating on issues of development and current affairs.
How would you like to volunteer for Concern Worldwide Debates Programme and support young people in Ireland to become active global citizens?
Each debate requires three independent adjudicators to mark the debate. Full training is provided for each volunteer adjudicator.
Volunteers can adjudicate as many or as few debates as they wish! Debates take place from Monday to Thursday and generally start at 7pm or 8 pm. Concern will endeavour to connect you with your nearest Debates school. Debates run from October to May but October to January is the peak period.
Volunteer Adjudicators need to be over 18 and have
- the Ability to see both sides of an argument and keep an open mind
- Good listening skills
- Ability to evaluate an argument according to set criteria
- Ability to give constructive, positive feedback.
- Good time keeping.
- Access to means of transport
Garda Vetting is a requirement for this role
