Wexford County Childcare Committee: Board Director

Profile of Company:

The organisation is funded through the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and acts as an advice and support agency on provision and policy to Early Learning Centres and School Age Childcare. We support our stakeholders in i) administration and compliance of National Childcare Schemes, ii) provision of Childcare information in line with government initiatives and National Curriculum & Quality Practice Frameworks, iii) delivery and facilitation of continuous professional development training and iv) support in establishing and developing of new Childcare services.

We provide information support to parents with regards to i) sourcing local childcare services, ii) guidance on National Childcare Schemes and initiatives, iii) advice and support on quality aspects of Early Childhood Care and Education & School Aged Childcare and iv) signposting to relevant support services.

The organisations main objective is to support the development of quality, affordable and accessible childcare services that values and promotes participation of each child and family in Co. Wexford.

Ethos

Our ethos is to pursue a consultative approach with all stakeholders in Early Childhood Care and Education and School Aged Childcare to achieve effective coordination of quality childcare services within the County.

Our actions are informed by i) the needs and rights of all children and their families, ii) partnership with and respect for all stakeholders in Early Childhood Care and Education & School Aged Childcare provision, iii) professionalism in our approach to our work and role of support to our stakeholders and iv) implementing policy and National Childcare programmes locally on behalf government, mainly our funders the Department of Children & Youth Affairs.

Wexford County Childcare Committee CLG is governed by a board of directors who adhere to the Principles of the Governance Code.

Director Skillset Requirement:

We have vacancies for Director positions who will complement the existing skillset and expertise of our current Directors. Areas of expertise is sought in Corporate Governance, Human Resource, Project Management and Legal. To formulate policies and strategies and put in place necessary organisational structures and resources. This is necessary to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the objectives of the National Childcare Investment Programme, in order to coordinate the provision and development of quality, affordable and accessible Childcare in Co. Wexford.

The role is to ensure compliance with relevant Employer and Corporate Governance legislation, ensuring sound financial practices and procedures are in place and being adhered to. Directors includes attendance at 8 meetings per annum, inclusive of an AGM. Ongoing support to the CEO in her role as operational manager forms part of the Directors responsibilities.

The board meets 8 times a year inclusive of an AGM
