Alternatives to Violence Project: Volunteer workshop Facilitator

AVP is recruiting new volunteer facilitators to to be trained to run our workshops in prison around the country: Dublin, Limerick, Caslterea, Cork, Portlaoise, Cavan, Arklow.

AVP is an experiential programme, helping people to change their lives and to learn new skills and attitudes that lead to fulfilling and non-violent lives. It is a network of volunteers running workshops mostly in prisons for anyone who wants to find ways of resolving conflict without resorting to violence.

Most of our workshops take place during the weekend: Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. Facilitators are part of a team of 3 to 5, including inmates facilitators.

This position requires a long term commitment: It takes approximatively a year to be fully trained (around 4 to 6 workshops) and AVP asks their volunteers to commit to run 3 workshops per year, once trained.

AVP's training is powerful and provides extremely useful professional and personal skills in conflict resolution and facilitation. Working in prison is a very rewarding experience.

Our next AGM with take place on Thursday 12th September in Dublin at 7.30pm. We hold regular meetings in Dublin, Cork and Limerick. We have planned first level workshops open to new outside volunteers in most prisons in the coming weeks and months.
