Expressions of Interest to Join the Board
D8CEC – Dublin 8 Community Education Centre – is an independent, not-for-profit organisation, set up in 1996 to provide second-chance education to adults in south-west inner-city Dublin. We are based on Synge Street in Dublin 8, and are funded by a variety of agencies, including City of Dublin Education and Training Board, Dublin City Council and the Edmund Rice Trust. D8CEC provides second-chance education to over 300 adults each year.
Since our establishment, D8CEC has become embedded into the heart of the community in the Liberties and beyond. We pride ourselves on our excellent educational standards; our friendly and welcoming atmosphere; and our success in supporting and encouraging learners to embrace community education.
D8CEC has a voluntary Board of Management. Our Board works closely with the Director of D8CEC to provide strategic direction and oversight, and to support the ongoing development of the Centre.
D8CEC is currently recruiting new members to join our Board. We are seeking people who passionately believe in the power of education, and who have an interest and / or experience in the community and voluntary sector. In particular, we are seeking people with:
- HR expertise;
- Legal expertise; and
- Fundraising expertise.
The D8CEC Board meets five times each year, with each meeting lasting for approximately one hour. The time commitment required outside of meetings is just a couple of hours per month – for reviewing relevant documentation and participating in ad-hoc Board activities, such as sub-committees.
If you are interested in joining our Board and supporting the excellent work we do, please contact Rachel Morrissey, Director of D8CEC, Tel: 0879046204 , Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
