VOLUNTARY CHAIRPERSON REQUIRED
The Canal Communities Local Drug & Alcohol Task Force (CCLDATF) is based in the Dublin areas of Bluebell, Inchicore, Kilmainham and Rialto. The purpose of the Task Force is to provide an effective, integrated response to the problems caused by substance misuse in the Canal Communities area and its environs.
The CCLDATF stated its commitment to Article 25 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights in its Strategic Planning Document (2013-2016) outlining its commitment to the principles of equality, respect, participation, sustainable action and integration.
The Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force structure gives the statutory, community and voluntary sectors, as well as public representatives, a unique opportunity to work together to implement the National Drug and Alcohol Strategy, Reducing Harm, Supporting Recovery (2017 – 2025) at a local level, by implementing its own strategic plan to address alcohol and drug misuse. This requires the development of a collective approach, which promotes co-operation and collaboration between all respective stakeholders.
The Chairperson plays a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the CCLDATF strategy.
The Chairperson’s role is twofold: firstly to the lead the Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force and, secondly to facilitate its meetings.
A full description of the position indicates a time commitment of approximately three days per month.
The successful candidate should have:
- The ability to work with statutory, voluntary and community sectors
- The ability to chair monthly meetings of approx 20 persons
- An understanding of the brief of Local Drug and Alcohol Task Forces
This is a voluntary position, but any expenses incurred for travel or phone calls will be reimbursed.
