March For Choice 18 Accessibility Volunteers wanted
Can you volunteer sometime this September and help support the March for Choice 2018? The March for Choice will see pro-choice activists, organisations, and individuals from around the country come together in their thousands in Dublin on Saturday 29th September 2018. The Abortion Rights Campaign (ARC) needs accessibility volunteers to help out in the lead up to the march, and on the day itself.
ARC is always looking for, and appreciative of, support from our friends who want to share their time or talent, to help us . Whether you are looking to volunteer , lend your professional services or expertise, there are many ways to get involved to help ensure our March for Choice 18 is accessible for everyone.
The Abortion Rights campaign
The Abortion Rights Campaign (ARC) is a movement for choice and change in Ireland. We aim to promote broad national support for free safe and legal abortion, to ensure the health and rights of women in pregnancy are protected in line with international human rights standards; and to fight abortion stigma across the island of Ireland.
We believe women can be trusted to choose for themselves. So do the majority of people in Ireland. 2018 has been a historical and groundbreaking year for reproductive rights in Ireland with the vote to Repeal the 8th Amendment on the 25th May. However, in Ireland and Northern Ireland, there are still many barriers to women’s full reproductive rights. If we work together, we can dismantle these barriers so that women and their families can make their own decisions, for themselves.
Volunteers are required for various tasks to aid in making the march accessible to all. We also welcome input on planning and organising all aspects of the event which concern accessibility.
Examples on the day would include:
- Guides for people who have visual impairments.
- Volunteering in our accessibility area.
- Being present in a volunteer capacity at our March after event
- Assisting people to transport
To be available on 29th September for the time of the March and or the after event
There are fortnightly meetings which can be attended online and which are for an hour.
If you have specific skills or assistance you can give us with planning before the day we are flexible about time you can volunteers. We are all volunteers ourselves and are able to work on a day or evening basis with you.
Please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest with your name contact details, availability on the day and on the lead up to the March. We are always open to hearing how we can improve accessibility at our events and welcome new ideas.
Volunteers must be over 18
