St. John of God Carmona Services Human Rights Committee
St. John of God Carmona Services provides a range of day and residential services and supports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in south Dublin.
The Human Rights Committee (HRC) of Carmona Services has a vacancy for an external, Independent (non-staff) Chairperson.
The Committee’s function is to ‘… to protect the due process rights of people receiving services and supports. This committee is held accountable to understand due process and to question every situation in which a person’s rights are restricted for any reason.’
All committee members are expected to:
- Give a commitment of at least two years.
- Attend committee meetings (usually in Stillorgan on the third Monday of each month, in the afternoon, for approximately two hours).
- Read documentation provided in advance of scheduled meetings.
- Be willing to undertake some additional work (outside and between committee meetings).
The ideal candidate will have experience on similar committees, preferably within the disability sector or will have experience at Board level or at Senior Management level.

A full induction will be provided to the successful applicant.
