Board Member – Family Supporter

Limerick Mental Health Association (LMHA) promotes positive mental health in the community of Limerick city and environs. It is affiliated to the charity Mental Health Ireland. LMHA is seeking a family member/carer/supporter of a person with mental health difficulties to become a voluntary member of the Board of Directors of LMHA.

This board member will advocate on behalf of the families, carers, and supporters of members and users of the services of LMHA. This will ensure that the voice of family members / carers is heard in our service delivery.


  • Attending monthly board meetings and participating in the management, development and governance of the Association;
  • Ensuring that the voice of family members/carers of those using mental health services guides the actions and philosophy of the organisation;
  • Supporting outreach activities within the community with a focus on the needs of family members/supporters in the design and delivery of mental health services;
  • Working to realise the objectives of the LMHA Strategic Plan 2018-2021.

Lived experience as a family member or carer/supporter of a person living with mental ill health, and willingness to draw on this experience as required, is an essential requirement for this position.
