Galway Rape Crisis Centre are currently recruiting female support workers for the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit.

What is the role of a SATU support worker?

Galway Rape Crisis Centre provide a 365 day a year, 24 hour call out service to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU) where our volunteer support workers provide much needed emotional and psychological support to people in the immediate aftermath of a sexual assault/ rape.

Please note that the role of the support worker is NOT a counselling role, but one of providing crucial psychological support preventing or limiting dissociation and re-traumatisation.
Volunteer support workers work as part of a team, receiving excellent support and supervision. They are on call for three shifts a month and respond to call-outs as appropriate.
