Head of Governance

This voluntary post will provide the Governance role to the ECRDATF Chairperson and Board providing drug and alcohol services in South Dublin and Wicklow.

The post will have the primary reporting relationship to the ECRDATF Chairperson or his/her nominee.

Committees consisting of Task Force members and project managers put in place by the Governance and Nominations committee, will be the main beneficiaries of the support from the Head of Governance. It will be a matter for each committee to identify the programme of work which will be carried out and generally oversee progress regarding same. However, the governance under which they operate will be directed by this position.

Primary Objective

  • The Head of Governance will act as a shared resource in support of the various teams and committees to progress the Task Force overall governance objectives of:
  • Responsibility for the operational implementation and development of the Governance Framework across the Task Force
  • To advise and work closely with the Chairperson and Coordinator, ensuring they understand the requirement of governance
  • To be the internal source of advice and guidance to Task Force members on governance matters to ensure that staff are complying with all aspects
  • To manage the flow of governance work, ensuring that governance decisions are made in a timely and efficient manner with meetings activity dovetailing effectively together.
  • To provide support to Task Force members and staff to ensure governance succession planning, including facilitating the process of recruitment or election of governance roles necessary and delivering comprehensive member and staff inductions.
  • To embed a culture of full corporate governance within the ECRDATF.

The Head of Governance will require the following skills:

  • Previous experience of working in a governance role at Board and Executive Team level, with demonstrable experience gained from previous similar roles.
  • Previous experience of providing strategic advice on governance and compliance matters
  • Previous experience of producing high quality, accurate minutes
  • Previous experience of handling confidential and sensitive mattes and situations with tact, diplomacy and confidentiality
  • Budgeting and financial management experience

Tenure

Successful candidates will be appointed for an initial 3-year period
