We are a recovery orientated resource centre and our services are available to anyone with self-experience of mental ill health. Individual Support Services Available in Shine:

  • One to one mental health recovery support sessions, with our Community Mental Health Workers
  • One to one Art Therapy sessions, with our MA Art Therapy Student

Group Information

Money Matters
To explore and identify ways of dealing with issues of saving, and borrowing options. To understand and draw up a personal budget. To explore various everyday situations with relation to money, banking and shopping.

This group aims to create an awareness of the meaning, values and beliefs of self-advocacy and the benefits it can bring. Understanding of your personal rights and responsibilities. To develop effective communication skills and self-advocacy skills to use in certain situations.

Effective Communication
This group aims to facilitate the learner to develop their communications skills related to vocational, personal and interpersonal development.

Relaxation Techniques
This group aims to equip learners with self-help steps to reduce stress and increase relaxation. Learners will learn about, and practice various effective relaxation techniques that they can use to increase their personal wellness and ability to cope with life stressors.

Open Art Therapy Studio
Art therapy uses the creative process of making art as a safe way to represent your inner experiences, develop awareness and support personal change. The Open Art Therapy Studio is designed to provide an opportunity for people to come and try art therapy in a relaxed open setting.

This yoga class introduces the fundamental principles of alignment and breath work in a flow of postures linked together by the breath. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration (Supported by Cork Sports Partnership).

Anxiety Workshop
This workshop is designed to give people a better understanding of what anxiety is, how overwhelming it can be and ways of developing tools to manage it in day to day life.

Personal and Interpersonal Skills
This group aims to help people improve their skills, knowledge and competence to interact constructively with others.
