Professional Certificate in Children and Loss (Level 9)
Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in association with The Irish Hospice Foundation
(September 2019 – March 2020)
A postgraduate course for professionals who work with children or adolescents experiencing loss such as teachers, chaplains, nurses, social workers, social care workers, psychologists, counsellors and others.
It aims to equip practitioners with an informed understanding of loss and how best to support grieving children and adolescents. The course combines didactic and experiential learning with two modules: 1. Understanding Children and Loss and 2. Addressing Loss Issues with Children. Specific topics include working with traumatic loss, loss in families, and using the creative arts.
This part-time course meets monthly over a seven-month period. Closing date for receipt of completed applications has been extended to 4th June 2019.
Participants must possess a Level 8 degree in a relevant area or equivalent demonstrated through a defined Recognition of Prior Learning Process (RPL).
