Shine: Finding My Way (Monaghan, Co Monaghan)

Finding My Way

Shine is the national organisation dedicated to upholding the rights and addressing the needs of all those affected by mental ill health, through the promotion and provision of high quality services and working to ensure the continual enhancement of the quality of life of the people it serves.

“Finding MY Way” is a recovery orientated course, co-produced by Shine and a team of people with self-experience.

The course is specifically designed for people with self experience of a mental health difficulty, be that schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder or depression.

“Finding MY Way” is a peer led experience and uses a combination of learning techniques to offer accessible, personal development tools, which will enable participants to explore and enhance their own personal experience of recovery.

Delivered over an 8 week period, the programme consists of the following modules:

  • Understanding one’s own recovery
  • Taking ownership of recovery
  • Self-advocacy
  • Effective communication
  • Rights and entitlements
  • Occupational development and career planning
  • Overcoming self-stigma
  • Building resilience.

The course is co-facilitated by two peer facilitators, with the assistance of the Shine RDO. Each module is approximately 90 minutes in duration and each group consists of no more than 15 participants.
