3Ts (Turn the Tide of Suicide) / TCD: Research Study Seeks Participants

Research Study Seeks Participants Accessing help for self-harm and suicidal behaviour in the emergency department

Accessing help for self-harm and suicidal behaviour in the emergency department

What is the study about?

Research has found that people who present to Emergency Departments following an episode of self-harm sometimes do not receive the care they need. It has also been found that some people leave the Emergency Department before being assessed by a clinician.

The voices of service-users are key to understanding how response and outcomes may be improved. With this in mind, and with the help of funding from Suicide Prevention Charity 3Ts, Researchers at the School of Nursing and Midwifery Trinity College Dublin are seeking to interview people about their experiences of presenting to the Emergency Department in Ireland following an episode of self-harm or suicidal behaviour.

How do I take part?

We would like to hear from you if:

  • You have presented to the Emergency Department for self-harm / suicidal behaviour more than 3 months ago but within the past 5 years;
  • You have presented to the Emergency Department in the Republic of Ireland;
  • You are over 18 years of age.
