About the tree
Since 1989 it has been our privilege to serve patients and their families within the local community. In the month of December we will remember all those we have cared for through our Tree of Life Ceremonies, which are held in the grounds of St. Francis Hospice, Raheny and Blanchardstown.
St. Francis Hospice Blanchardstown – 5th December 8pm
St. Francis Hospice Raheny – 12th December 7.30pm
Both Ceremonies are outdoor so it is important that you wrap up well and in case of rain please bring an umbrella with you. A red candle will be provided to you for the ceremony and can be taken home with you.
CEREMONIES/TIMES: Ceremonies will commence PROMPTLY AT 8pm/7.30pm and are three quarters of an hour long. These gentle services of remembrance will be led by one of our hospice Chaplains who will be joined by service participants from both religious and lay members within the community. The service will be filled with the voices of hospice staff and local choirs. During the service the lights of the Hospice Christmas Tree will be turned on to remember all those we have cared for both past and present.
LIGHT SPONSORSHIP: The hospice Christmas tree is made up of hundreds of lights and these lights can be sponsored €6 per light, before and after the ceremony, in memory of a loved one or for somebody experiencing difficulty in their lives. A Tree of Life Star is also available with each light purchased. This star can be sent to a relative or friend telling them that they are remembered. An area within the Hospice will be set up for the sale of lights. Lights may also be purchased online on our virtual Christmas Tree www.stfrancishospice.ie.
