Oxfam Ireland is hosting an event called ‘She Pays the Price’ in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane on Wednesday 1st May at 10.30am- 12.30pm with Oxfam International Executive Director Winnie Byanyima.
Winnie is a world-renowned expert on women’s rights and will be delivering a keynote address on challenging the barriers women across the world face in attaining economic empowerment.
Globally, women pay the price for an economy that systematically discriminates against them. Women often end up in insecure, low-wage jobs and are under-represented in senior positions. They also continue to carry the burden of unpaid care work which restricts their ability to pursue economic opportunities.
Advancing women’s economic empowerment is not only fundamental to achieving gender equality but also to eradicating poverty at home and overseas. It’s time for women to enjoy decent work that pays and play a key role in shaping economic and social policies.
We’re thrilled to take this opportunity to discuss how advancing women’s economic empowerment is not only fundamental to achieving gender equality but also to eradicating poverty at home and overseas.
The keynote address will be followed by a lively panel discussion and Q&A with thought-leaders from across academia, business, politics and the trade union sector.
