Making your voice heard in HSE Mental Health Services

Coffee Information Morning & Evening Information Session

(Blanchardstown & surrounding areas)

Mental Health Services in Dublin North City and County is inviting people to attend an Information Session in Draiocht Arts Centre, The Blanchardstown Centre, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 on Monday the 17th of September 2018. The session will be hosted by Catherina Brady, Area Lead in Mental Health Engagement in Dublin North City and County (HSE). Catherina will provide information on Mental Health Engagement which is a new HSE Mental Health initiative being rolled out across the country.

Mental Health Engagement uses a partnership approach. It incorporates the views and voice of people who use Mental Health Services, their family members, carers and supporters to bring about changes and improvements to all aspects of HSE Mental Health Services. It does this in a very structured way through the establishment of Local Forums.

Local Forums are regular meetings which take place monthly and provide a space and opportunity for service users, carers and family members to voice their experiences, and to present their views in relation to the planning, design and delivery of mental health services. It also provides direct pathways for communication to and from local and regional management teams so that upcoming issues are considered and responded to.

Catherina Brady said ‘Local Forums in Dublin North City and County are open to anyone who has used or who are currently availing of HSE Mental Health Services, their family members, carers or supporters. It gives an opportunity for service users, carers and family members to input into local and national HSE structures for the improvement of mental health services. The Local Forums provide a supported place to meet new people, share experiences, find common ground and shape mental health services. It is a place to contribute your opinion or experience of mental health services in your area.’
