North West Area Partnership (DNWAP) is working in partnership with An Cosán Virtual Community College (VCC) to deliver this exciting new programme through the Innovating for Inclusion Fund
An Cosán VCC is at the forefront of educational technology in Ireland. Working in partnership with IT Carlow, we use a blended model of online, live lectures with offline activities, assignments and face-to-face workshops. We are delighted to offer the following programme this Autumn to learners in Finglas, Cabra, Ballymun catchment.
Community Leadership | Accredited QQI Level 6 | 10-week programme | Start Date: Mid-September 2018 | Deadline for applications is Thursday 6th September 2018
The Community Leadership programme will explore the role of leadership in the community sector. Learners will investigate a model of grassroots community leadership in practice, nationally and globally. Learners will also examine the concept of leadership within the context of social activism and analyse different leadership styles and qualities. Learners will identify their own leadership skills and style and identify strategies and practices fitting to community leadership development. You will also explore the contribution of technology to community leadership.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment
Learners will acquire in-depth knowledge and develop research and problem-solving skills through work and enquiry-based learning, more formally structured tuition, and self-directed learning. They will develop competencies in the following transferable skills: written and oral communication, critical thinking, digital literacy, group collaboration, problem solving, planning & time management. A variety of assessment methods such as reflective journals, presentations, research projects, portfolios and assignments are used on the programme.
Who is this programme aimed at?
This blended online programme is open to people who are active or aspiring leaders in their community (in paid or voluntary roles) and who live in the Dublin North West Area. A limited number of bursaries are available.
