Vice Chairperson and Secretary Trustee

The Role:

Christine Buckley Centre for Education and Support CLG is seeking to recruit for 2 volunteer positions to join the Board, a Vice Chairperson and a Secretary Trustee. We are looking for candidates with a legal background and/or individuals with recent and relevant experience in Fundraising and PR activities.

General duties of a Charity Trustee

• Comply with the Charity’s governing document.
• Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
• Acting in the best interest of the charity
• Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
• Manage the assets of the charity

Responsibilities of a Legal Charity Trustee include the following:

•  Inputting to the strategic direction, contributing with insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation in other sectors.
•  Act as Legal Counsel, assisting on legal aspects of the organisation and pertaining to best practice
•  Assist with the creation of strategic plans which will comply with current legislation and practice
•  Providing input to the strategic direction of the organisation and contributing with insight, oversight, and experience in strategy formulation in the sector.

Desirable skills

•  A Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years of experience. Expertise in areas such as Employment and Commercial Law would be an advantage.
•  A deep appreciation and knowledge of the Not-For-Profit sector
•  An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values
•  Commitment to the highest levels of corporate governance
•  Relevant knowledge and experience in charity governance.

Board Meetings:

There will be 10 board meetings a year. Meetings are held in the centre which is located in Dundrum, Co Dublin.
