Do you have 2-3 hours to give in the mornings or afternoons? Would you like to make hospital a happier place for children?

Children in Hospital Ireland are currently recruiting Play Volunteers for Kilkenny, Castlebar, and Drogheda. We would love to hear from you.

CIH is one of Ireland’s leading children’s charities providing play and fun for children in hospital around the country for over 50 years. Children need the opportunity to play wherever they are, this is especially important for their overall wellbeing in hospital. As a play volunteer you make this happen. Play volunteers facilitate play in playrooms and at bedsides supporting children and their families.

Play volunteers need only to be willing to have fun with children of all ages. All necessary training will be provided for play in a hospital environment, no medical knowledge needed.

How to Become a Volunteer

CIH will be holding information and interview evenings for each of the locations – you must register (office@childreninhospital.ie) and attend a session before attending training and becoming a volunteer.

  • In Kilkenny on Wednesday 14th September 6-8pm
  • Online for Mayo on Wednesday 28th September 6-8pm
  • In Drogheda on Wednesday 26th October 6-8pm

After attending, and a successful interview, you will be invited to training

Requirements

  • Over 18
  • References
  • Garda Vetting
  • International Police Clearance for those who have lived in another country for more than 6 months

CIH will support applicants with all reference and vetting requirements during the application process.
