Gerri’s Place: Research Volunteers x 4

Gerri’s Place

Gerri’s Place is a new social enterprise which will provide emotional health and wellness retreats for people struggling with a life event or challenge.

We are looking for 4 volunteers [1 of which needs to be a service user/family member] with knowledge around the research process, ethics, and a variety of quantitative, qualitative and mixed method research methodologies to support our lead researcher Michael John Norton in the process of applying for ethical approval and to conduct an evaluation of the pilot of this initiative which is due to occur in the next few months.

The role of the volunteers will be mainly research based and will require some reading, searching of the literature and write up of various aspects of the ethics application and other outputs from the evaluation. They will assist in conducting a literature review, the application for ethical approval and support the roll out, data gathering, analysis and write up of any publications arising from the evaluation of the pilot retreat weekend.

Time commitment will be a few hours per week but this is flexible and to be confirmed. Volunteer meetings will be conducted via Zoom, however, may be face-to-face if volunteers prefer. Benefits of becoming a volunteer include being named as an author on any publications arising from the pilot as well as gaining research experience from your peers.

This is an exciting initiative and once ready to launch will hopefully provide much needed early intervention support for people experiencing a mental health challenge.

If you have an interest in the area of mental health and wellness and have time to spare please contact Michael John Norton by emailing
