Foróige's Big Brother Big Sister Cork: Volunteer Mentors
Foróige's Big Brother Big Sister Cork is currently recruiting volunteer mentors.
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Programme is a mentoring programme that matches an adult volunteer to a young person of the same gender.
You meet the young person once a week for one to two hours, and the initial commitment is for one year.
The main goal of the match is the development of the relationship between the young person and adult volunteer.
Once this relationship has been established Foróige’s BBBS programme can address the needs of the young person that have been identified. For example, goals might be related to learning a new skill or hobby, school attendance, academic performance, relationship with other young people, adults or siblings.
Activities may include; sport, cooking, board games, participating in group activities, eating out, going to the cinema, going fishing, going to a soccer or GAA match, doing everyday activities together such as grocery shopping, washing a car, walking a dog or just hanging around. Its core assumption is that a caring and supportive friendship will develop and reinforce the positive development of the young person (10-18).
If you are over 18 and feel you have something to offer a young person in our programme please email email@example.com.
We look forward to hearing from you.
